Alana Henderson releases Anyone, the third single from her upcoming ‘Museum’ EP tomorrow, but you can listen to it exclusively on GoldenPlec today.

Anyone is the follow-up to On Board featuring Joshua Burnside which Henderson released earlier this month. Of course, this was not the first time that the pair have collaborated with Henderson having previously appeared on Hollllogram from Burnside’s 2017 album ‘Ephrata’.

Anyone, sees the cellist deliver a chilled-out, mid-paced earworm reminiscent of Feist, dripping with personality and showcasing Henderson’s lyrical prowess.

“It comes from that slightly manic place just before a relationship has developed,” says Alana. “The song is built on nervous energy, excitement and possibility, flying in the face of past experience and better judgement.

Anyone, is the song on the EP that took the longest from inception to completion, I guess because I’ve shied away from recording it so many times in the past. It’s so much more upbeat than anything else I’ve written and for a long time I wasn’t comfortable with it, but when I finally sat down to record it I really enjoyed leaning in to the playfulness of the lyrics and allowing myself to be a few shades poppier with the production.”

The Museum EP is “based on relationships in their various stages of evolution. You have the falling in love, falling apart and looking back, and each song is a different part of that,” says Alana.

‘Anyone’ is out on September 27th. Alana Henderson plays at the Naughton Gallery, Belfast on December 11th. Tickets £10.
