// Who now?

We are Color//Sound, a 4-piece alt-rock band who love to make huge noises onstage but listen to quiet folk songs on our days off.

// Lets get straight to it – is that a legit quote from President Michael D. Higgins on your Facebook page bio? If so, details please!

T’is a legit quote! The Destructor Higgins payed a visit to the opening of the second BIMM Dublin building and we performed at the opening with Somerville and Rudy Trixx. Both of whom get it very right too!

// You’ve played with some of the royalty of the Irish music scene including Cathy Davey, Villagers, Little Matador, The Divine Comedy & Turn. Could you pick a favourite show so far?

One of our gig highlights for sure was playing with Cathy Davey, Conor O’Brien and Divine Comedy at the launch of Cathys dog charity album for Dogs in Distress. We debuted our song To The Countryside at this gig – a song written about the death of our drummer Ben’s dog. Full circle ay …. PATHOS GONE 90

// Any pre-gig rituals that you guys indulge in? Weird chanting/lucky pants/etc?

Before every gig we hold each other tight – whispering sweet nothings boosts morale and general on stage energy levels. Shamanic chanting also makes sure the cosmos is on our side.

// Who are your favourite Irish artists at the moment?

Our favourite Irish artist at the moment is definitely Girl Band. Their album is one of the best that’s come out this year.

Also must mention our buddies Otherkin. Killer live rokkerz, with a deadly new EP ‘The 201’ to boot. Not just saying it because Brendan lives with Luke and Dave. Promise.

// You went on a national tour with Otherkin. Please rank the four members in order of Color//Sound … IE: who has the best coloured socks and who’s the soundest.

The most coloured member of Otherkin must be Conor! These boys do enjoy their black on black, but Conor remains unafraid to bust out the flamboyant Hawaiian shirts!

They’re all top lads, equally sound and unrankable but Dave is definitely the best samwhich’ maker.

// The last text message you sent is your next album title. What is it?

Our next album will be called:

‘I’ll Drag Myself Up… Jewish Momma Style’
Don’t ask.

// Speaking of, when can we expect same album?

After our Golden Beck gig we will be taking a break from performing live and will be going into the studio in November to begin our debut EP. In the past we have released singles and videos, but haven’t released a collection of works.

Although we stand by the singles we have released in the past our main self criticism is that they don’t reflect our rawness or live energy. The aim of this EP will be to pack a punch with a collection of songs that are an accurate representation of where we are as a band now.

// Send us a photo and explain…

Here is a photograph taken before a halloween gig 2 years ago. Not much has changed. A few members reshuffled. Pouting duck face perfected.

// You can only hear one song for the rest of your life – what is it?

If we could hear one more song for the rest of our life it would be… Too Drunk To Fuck by the Dead Kennedys. Or Dave the Butcher by Tom Waits. Or maybe that Bruce Springsteen/LCD Sound System cover that Hot Chip just brought out. Dat good shit!

// The one song that you always bust out at a house party?

How Am I Supposed To Live Without You! Complete with the dialogue from the Kelly and Zack break up scene in Saved by the Bell. Maybe thats the one song we’d listen to for the rest of our life. I feel maybe we’ve done it justice at this stage… Well maybe one more rendition couldn’t hurt…
