A veritable who’s who of Limerick musical talent will be on display for a very special celebration this Sunday in the legendary Dock Rd. venue, Dolans.

The occasion being marked is ten years of Music Generation in the Treaty City, a programme that has unearthed some fantastic local talents, along with mentoring and tutoring hundreds more!

Established in 2013, Music Generation Limerick City has provided the young people of Limerick with countless opportunities to avail of creative outlets and professional musical tuition led by some of the area’s foremost singers and musicians. Whilst Boris Hunka is the co-ordinator of Music Generation Limerick City (who himself is a musician, producer and teacher), he has be aided and abetted by members of Windings, Anna’s Anchor and Protobaby, Denise Chaila, Godknows, Murli, JaYne and many others. As one of the very first of the Music Generation projects the Limerick team have certainly delivered on the vision set out for this national programme (funded and supported by U2, The Ireland Funds and the Department of Education), which is to create inspiring experiences for children and young people through music and make sure that everyone, whatever their background, gets access to music tuition.

Not everyone who has paid heed to the explosion of top quality music coming out of Limerick in recent years will realise that many of those blossoming acts have been fostered in one of the many programmes run by Music Generation – those include Denis Chaila, Strange Boy, Hazey Haze, His Father’s Voice, 50 Foot Woman and PowPig.

The Music Generation Limerick City team have already been rightly afforded a Mayoral Reception earlier in the week, but the real celebrations will take place this Sunday. True to the ethos of  Music Generation Dolans will host an All Ages music festival across all four stages of a venue that has always prided itself on nurturing emerging local talent.

Six hours of music will kick off at 2pm with over 40 acts making up a sparkling bill that features Denise Chaila, BPLO, Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets, 50 Foot Woman, Abe Soare, Willzee, God Knows, Murli, JaYne, Strange Boy and loads more!

It certainly will be a fantastic celebration of Limerick music, tickets are available via Dolans, tickets for adults are €12 and under 18s can enjoy the day for €8.
