We recently had Pockets perform at our 7th #GoldenBeck night in The Workmans club (see photos below) and they blew the room away. From early on in sound-check, both our photographer and sound engineer on the night knew they were in for something special.

Alone is the lead single from their mini EP, ‘Raison d’être’, set to be released on the 19th of November.

This track showcases all the vulnerability that drips from Faustina’s voice as she sings “… to be alone, my only shame.” This vulnerability is then contrasted with the songs build; all adding up before the tracks eventual release. All around the voice is intricately woven – deliberate, spacious and powerful at the same time.

Pockets haven’t been around for long – such a short time in fact, that you can see a list of all the gigs they’ve played on their FB ‘about’ section. For a band so young, they embody everything that is so exciting about the burgeoning Irish music scene – not only do they ooze of youthful infection, but they also have a steady, calculated and assured quality that belies their tender years.

This isn’t just music for Ireland – it’s something bigger. You can buy Alone here.

Pockets play Whelans (Upstairs), as support to Planet Parade on the 24th (Friday) October and launch their ‘Raison d’être’ EP in The Grand Social on the 19th (Wednesday) November.
