Taking a leaf out of Radiohead’s book, Irish singer-songwriter Paul Byrne is making his new album ‘Cruel & Tender Ways’ available for free download. Paul says this is with a view to building up his audience in a manner other than simply depending on radio airplay.
Fans can leave a tip if they want to but are under no obligation. Basically the artist get’s the fan’s email address in return for the download, so that they can be contacted about gigs etc.
Paul first came to prominence as founder member and drummer with In Tua Nua in the 1980s and is also a noted producer and composer. ‘Cruel & Tender Ways’ is Paul’s first solo album, and Goldenplec readers will remember we gave the album a very positive review when it received it’s initial release in May of this year.
