Oxegen 2013 ticket competitionToday as you’re enjoying your easter eggs, we can tell you that Oxegen 2014 is not going ahead.

An announcement from organisers MCD cited financial demands from local agencies and a lack of suitable headline acts as the reasons for it not going ahead. Every year it was mentioned that the costs of keeping Oxegen at Punchestown was growing in security costs and fee’s from the local councils and with lineup, it was always going to be slightly more limited trying to find dance acts that could sell a capacity of 50k tickets.

We expect now that Longitude will be given license to grow. 10k tickets last year will probably be larger this year and we wouldn’t be shocked to see that next year either Longitude is pushed into a bigger venue or pushed to Marlay Park’s capacity with a bigger lineup or a brand new festival is kickstarted by MCD.

As for this year. Well your big festival jollies will come from Electric Picnic which your mid sized festivals like Life, Indiependence, Sea Sessions, Knockanstockan, Castlepalooza will provide a fun summer as usual.

MCD Statement

It is with regret that MCD announce that OXEGEN will not take place this year due to lack of suitable Headline Acts which combined with the financial demands by local agencies make it no longer viable to stage the Festival in its current form.
