Now we all know that a dog isn’t just for Christmas it’s for life. So this week sees a host of Ireland’s hottest talent come together for Dogs In Distress. A great cause, some of our best loved homegrown talent on a Friday night in The Workmans Club, Oscar The Hypno-Dog has all the makings of this weeks Gig of the Week. The line up is set to include Conor O’Brien (Villagers), The Divine Comedy, Cathy Davey, Sharon Shannon, R.S.A.G, David Turpin, Harry Holler and many more. Tickets are still available and are €20, there’s also an album to coincide with the gig and everybody involved has given their time and royalties free of charge, so every cent from the gig and album go to this worthy cause.
Elsewhere, tonight Florence and the Machine are hosting a fancy dress ball down in The o2 tonight, tickets for that one are sold out. Christy Moore is over in Vicar Street.
Maria Doyle Kennedy is playing one of the prettiest venues in Dublin on Thursday. Tickets are €25 and still available.Those lovely Delorentos chaps are touring round Ireland at the moment with their Bullet In A Gun tour. They’ll be in Roisin Dubh in Galway on Thursday. Tickets are still available and are €18.
Friday sees The Coronas take on the mighty O2, with support from Roisin O and Ryan Sheridan. Tickets for that gig are from €39 and still available.
The Academy will be packed out on Saturday night for Ham Sandwich‘s sold out gig. Meanwhile Orla Gartland will be bringing her infectious beats downstairs to The Academy 2. Tickets are still available and a bargain at €6.50, there’ll be lots of Orla Gartland merchandise too if you’re stuck for stocking fillers. If neither of those tickle your fancy head over to Vicar Street for God Is an Astronaut. Tickets still available and are €23.
Wrapping up the week, those folky lads Mumford & Sons will be playing to a jam-packed O2 on Sunday night.
