Meteor Choice Music Prize 2012 Song of the Year shortlist announced Meteor Choice Music Prize 150x150It’s that time again. Last year Meteor’s sponsorship of the Choice Music Prize yielded a new publically decided award to add to the proceedings on the night of the Meteor Choice Music Prize 2012.

Last year Royseven walked away with the prize of Song of the Year for their track ‘We Should Be Lovers’. This year the 10 judges and the airplay charts of Irish music have been combined to produce the shortlist, and you the public decide the overall winner.

It is the public who will decide the winner by voting online at www.facebook.com/meteor or by texting ‘SONG’ to 0857114444 for a list of nominees. All voters are in with a chance to win one of 20 pairs of tickets to the Meteor Choice Music Prize live event on March 7th in Vicar Street and can vote once a day until voting closes on March 3rd. 

The winning entry will be announced at the live event and awarded the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year Trophy along with a prize fund of €3,000.

The Meteor Choice Music Prize Live Event will take place on Thursday March 7th in Vicar StreetDublin. Tickets will be on sale on Friday January 11th for €22.50 from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide.

    Most of the songs there are great, however I dont think ‘Mark My Word’s’ or ‘Hall of Fame’ really deserve to be there. Dont get me wrong , both good songs but theres so many better songs that could have taken their place. Anyways, Delorentos ‘Care For’ to win!! :D
