PPI Radio Awards Winners 2009 Announced
The winners of the PPI (Phonographic Performance Ireland) Radio Awards 2009 have been announced at a gala ceremony in The Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny tonight, Friday 2nd October 2009 where the red carpet was rolled out to welcome the cream of Irish radio.

Amongst the winners on the night were Newstalk 106 who scooped Full Service Station of the Year with WLR getting Local Station of the Year. Music Station was won by FM104. Today Fm’s Ray Foley was named as Music Broadcaster of the Year. RTE’s Radio One Ryan Tubridy picked up Speech Broadcaster of the Year and RTE Radio 1 Sean O’Rourke was awarded News Broadcaster of the Year and Newstalks’ Eoin McDevitt scored Sports Broadcaster of the Year were all among the winners on the night. Aodán Ó Dubhghaill, Head of Lyric Fm collected Gay Byrne’s Outstanding Achievement PPI Radio award on Gay’s behalf.
PPI Awards salutes the best writers, broadcasters, producers, reporters, presenters and technicians in radio. Now in its ninth year PPI (Phonographic Performance Ireland) Radio Awards is considered the Oscars of the radio industry calendar celebrates the art and skill of radio production and programming.
