A true festival of independent spirit and minds, Féile Na Gréine takes place in Limerick on the weekend of August 19-21 and this year’s line-up is its most impressive yet.

Limerick’s freshest music festival was established by a group of Limerick musical collectives in 2018, returning the following summer with a stellar sophomore festival. Even during the pandemic they weren’t willing to merely sit things out and focused their creative efforts into producing a music documentary (set for release later this year) to sum-up the festival’s journey to date. There’s also been a book of eye-catching photography which has already sold out it’s first run.

After the covid-enforced hiatus the festival returned last September with a stripped back line-up, which included performances from Naive Ted, Elaine Malone, Aoife Wolf and Jinx Lennon. But now the festival is back with it’s most ambitious line-up yet with nearly 30 acts from all over the country taking part. This fantastic free music trail is curated by DIY LK & Lower Your Expectations, with a superb range of emerging and experimental Irish music acts on offer in a wonderful variety of venues all around Limerick City.

Just some of the acts appearing at this year’s Féile Na Gréine include Brigid Mae Power, Junior Brother, Girlfriend, Banríon and Messyng, and of course there are plenty of local acts on the bill too, including the re-energised Post Punk Podge and the Technohippies, up-and-comers Vacuity and cult rapper Citrus Fresh.

This year’s festival is being held in association with Limerick City & County Council, Limerick.ie and the Limerick Arts Office, with the marvellous musical goings on taking place in Mother Macs, The Commercial, Pharmacia, Crew, and the Treaty City Brewery.

But that’s just a snapshot of what’s on offer, you can see the full line-up below and keep your eyes peeled on the Féile Na Gréine Facebook and Twitter for who is playing where, and when.
