2020 Plec Pick Soda Blonde have crafted a compelling alt-pop sound since the release of their 2019 debut EP ‘Terrible Hands’ – casting off comparison with the indie-folk four of the band’s members produced in their former occupation as Little Green Cars.
The band continue to push further into the alternative pop sphere with In The Heat Of The Night – a track built around grooving rhodes chords, a steady drum beat and 80s influenced synth chimes on the song’s earworm chorus.
“The music possessed an attitude that I wasn’t familiar with as a songwriter. It deftly evoked the neon of night and brought Scorcese’s Casino to my mind,” says vocalist Faye O’Rourke
Our goal was to create a song that had everything we wanted to hear. It allowed me to write, uninhibited by the labour of self-analysis. It’s a song about conflict-and getting a kick out of it. The thrill of the fight.
The track comes ahead of the release of the group’s debut album ‘Small Talk’, which is set for a release on 9 July, 2021. The band will also be touring Ireland and the UK extensively towards the end of the year, along with a planned support slot at Sinead O’Connor’s 2022 Iveagh Gardens performance.
