Radio Nova has joined forces with Fine Gael TD Noel Rock to launch a campaign to outlaw ticket-touting and the re-sale of tickets above face value in Ireland.

Mr Rock has requested a meeting with Taoiseach Enda Kenny to present a piece of draft legislation design to ensure fans get to go to concerts and sporting events for the original purchase price.

A statement from the classic rock station reads:

Fine Gael TD Noel Rock wants to meet Taoiseach Enda Kenny and get his backing for a Bill which would tackle ticket-touting.

Mr Rock has drawn up a piece of draft legislation which would prohibit the resale of tickets for concerts and sporting events for more than their face value.

This follows mounting anger from U2 fans who weren’t able to buy tickets to the band’s July 22 Croke Park gig seeing them for sale on re-sale sites just minutes after the concert sold out on Monday morning.
