There’s something dark, ethereal and unsettling about Molly Sterling’s new single Plain Static. And rightly so, Plain Static explores the bleaker aspects of being a woman in Ireland today.

Lyrically, it’s a powerful statement about on how society values women’s flesh over their abilities. “My body is not just feast for eyes, it’s a home, a prison, a craft, all at the same time.”

Darragh Nolan’s brooding production encapsulates these abhorrent themes and gruesome realities perfectly.

Leave whatever preconceptions you may have about Molly Sterling at the door and listen without prejudice because Plain Static bodes extremely well for Sterling’s developmen as an artist going forwards.
