This year’s New Year’s Festival Dublin (NYF Dublin), Countdown Concert will feature Walking on Cars with special guests Ash, Aimee & Lisa McHugh

The annual event which takes place at Custom House Quay Dublin has been criticised in recent years for being a bit of a sausage fest due to the lack of female acts on display. However, no such claims can be made this year with 3 of the 4 acts selected by organisers ensuring there’s a heavy female presence on display.

The event will be headlined by Dingle four-piece Walking On Cars who have recently completed a sold-out UK tour on the back of their second album ‘Colours’ and a clutch arena and outdoor shows in Ireland, including a stand-out date in Cork’s Irish Independent Park last summer.

The bill also includes veteran Northern Irish rockers Ash and pop newcomer Aimee and country singer Lisa McHugh – in what can only be described as an eclectic line-up.

“The New Year’s Festival Dublin is always a highlight in our festival calendar and this year we are delighted to work with Dublin City Council to offer an amazing programme of events to ring in the New Year on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in the capital city. Festivals and events are crucial to the tourism sector” says Paul Kelly, CEO, Fáilte Ireland. The New Year’s Festival Dublin not only provides a boost for tourism businesses in Dublin at an off-peak time of the year, it also gives overseas visitors to Ireland a unique opportunity to experience the very best of our culture, people and places.”
