Welcome news has just dropped into our inbox that Irish act, Le Galaxie, are to head over and fly the tricolour for Ireland at Rencontres Trans Musicales de Rennes, France.

Les Trans is a music festival based just outside the city-centre of Rennes, France. It is one of the finest and largest city-based festivals in Europe and pays particular attention to ‘new music’ with no real ‘headline’ act per se. In its 36-year history, Les Trans has seen acts such as Nirvana, Bjork, Portishead, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsytem and many more play in their formative years. The festival bookers here pay particular attention to innovative, special and progressive talent from all over the world; resulting in a festival lineup that is widely unknown to punters and industry heads alike.”

The above extract was taken from our review of the 2014 edition of Les Trans last year – (read review here). Last year’s festival seen stunning performances from the likes of Courtney Barnett, Kate Tempest, Curtis Harding, Shamir, The Avener, Ten Walls and Lizzo – many of whom have gone on to bigger things after their performances.

Not to mention Vaudou Games whose incredible performance at Les Trans copper-fastened their booking to headline the Body & Soul mainstage at Electric Picnic a few weeks ago – leaving the B&S bookers on the night salivating at the thought of bringing over such a raw, mostly unknown, quality act to Ireland.

That’s why it can be seen as such a success story with Le Galaxie, a band who GP have been pushing since the early days, flying over to showcase their talents to the booking glitterati of Europe. As so often, like Vaudou Games, Les Trans serves as a melting pot and sounding board for bookers all over Europe to handpick the best new talent around.
