James Yorkston has announced his return to The Workman’s Club in January in support of his critically acclaimed 2019 album ‘The Route to the Harmonium’, which was named ‘Folk Album Of The Month’ by The Guardian.

Yorkston’s first solo record since 2014’s The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society, ‘The Route to the Harmonium’ was almost entirely recorded by James himself, in the small Scottish fishing village of Cellardyke, in a ramshackle old loft space, originally used to repair fisherman’s nets.

Yorkston enlisted producer David Wrench (Caribou, Four Tet, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs, David Byrne) to help make sense of the sessions and create ‘The Route to the Harmonium’.

In between ‘The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society’ and ‘The Route to the Harmonium’ Yorkston has been releasing collaborative albums as part of Yorkston/Thorne/Khan and released his debut novel Three Craws in 2016.

James Yorkston at The Workman’s Club Monday, 27 January. Tickets €18.
