On this week’s round-up of the best new Irish music we present for your consideration the brand new albums from Maria Kelly, David Keenan and Christian Weathered in a week that is dominated by singer songwriters in and on the outskirts of the folk sphere.

A. Smyth delivers the radio edit of Rain Boys the final single from his debut album ‘Last Animals’, while hotly tipped Irish songwriter Sam Wickens delivers a poignant examination of growing up in a troubled home on Civil while Toronto based Cork songwriter Kev Olden continues to impress with Ache and Brigid Mae Power continues to be a haunting wonder with Mother In The Sky.

In rock, Sprints  have shared the latest single from their upcoming EP ‘A Modern Job’, Thumper have shared a reworked and much improved version of early track Loser. Glaway pop punk duo Light Grey deal with a PRBLM, while The Winter Passing return with a liver version of Ghost Thing – the opening track from their 2020 album ‘New Ways Of Living’ – and Really Good Time featuring members of Beach/Fat Pablo and Wastefellow combine for debut single Sitting Me Down, Speaking of debuts, it’s always nice to see new Irish acts emerge and this week sees Galway’s Dee Fitz deliver her plaintive pop debut, Cavalry, while Dublin’s Maia gets assertive with Boss and Kate Dineen takes us to Nashville for Good Guys.

In the pop realm, Inhaler take a shot at covering Billie Eilish’s Your Power, Gavin James get his Greatest Hits out while Ryan Mack admits to being a Sad Fuck. Aby Coulibaly leads the way for Irish R’N’B releases this week with Chamomile Tea, while Kneecap continue to save the Irish language via hip hop with Guilty Conscience.

All this plus new tunes from the likes of Blondmodel, Christy Dignam, April, Windings, Brad Heidi, Dani Larkin, smallmint, Rooue, Viscose, Kinetix, Bambie Thug, Taylor Lilly, Julia-Maria and Ruth Mac plus loads more.
