The Crayon Set

When:

Sunday - Goldenplec Grotto - 1.20 pm

What To Expect:

A full, rich sound that comes from having a large number of varied instruments. There’s 7 members in The Crayon Set, and they use their instrumentation brilliantly, jumping from quiet folk to explosive rock in the same set. An eclectic and exciting set should be in store here

Set Highlight:

‘Wonderland’ is a wonderful little piece that captures everything good about the band

Fierce Mild

When:

Saturday - Cricketer’s Balls - 9.20 pm

What To Expect:

With Sleater-Kinney’s successful reunion, Riot Grrrl is back, and Fierce Mild snap and snarl with a bustling energy typical of the genre. Offering more than just a blast of noise and a few angry words though, Fierce Mild have got some serious groove to their sound. This is punk you can dance to.

Set Highlight:

‘Bell Hooks’ is a dancey number that we’re excited to see live

What It Will Sound Like:

CPNHGN

When:

Friday – Goldenplec Grotto – 12 AM

What To Expect:

Gloomy, with just enough pop melodies to avoid any excessive misery - wallowing, CPNHGN create a post-punk sound that brings to mind Editors or Interpol, while still being fresh, interesting and packed with catchy riffs and hooks.

Set Highlight:

‘Seven Faces’ is a powerful song with a sing-a-long chorus and some badass guitar.

What It Will Sound Like:

 

The Dyatonics

When:

Saturday – Vanhalla stage – 1:15 PM

What To Expect:

The Dyatonics experience isn’t complete until you’ve seen them live; it’s just not possible to capture their raw energy on record. The sound itself is a catchy garage-rock affair, capturing the loose essence of someone like The Libertines.

Set Highlight:

The fierce energy of ‘Slurr’ should be enough to excite anyone’s ears

Cfit

When:

Sunday - Vanhalla Stage - 5.30 pm

What To Expect:

Eclecticism at its most unpredictable; Cfit call on interesting electronic sound effects, powerful guitar segments and vicious, biting lyrics all held together by soothing vocals. The group swerve between punchy punk tracks, gentler, retrospective moments and broad post-rock epics. Cfit’s wide-reaching sounds are definitely something to get excited about.

Set Highlight:

‘Dust Silhouettes’ is pumped up and angry and it’s great.

What It Will Sound Like:

 

Travis Oaks

When:

Sunday – GoldenPlec Grotto – 9:30pm

What to Expect:

Bluesy rock served raw. Expect big harmonies, stomping basslines and
ballsy guitar licks to guide you through Travis Oaks’ set. Their debut EP was released late last year and this incredibly hard-working band will show you exactly why you’ll be glad to be watching them.

Set highlight: 'Birdhouse Blues', featuring Jack White-esque vocals and a thumping rhythm section, it’s sure to get your feet moving.

What it will sound like:

New Secret Weapon

When:

Sunday – Vanhalla Stage - 8:45pm

What to Expect:

The Dublin chaps will deliver a set chocked full of high octane tunes. The
three-piece will surely be one of Saturday evening’s highlights and you’d probably be crazy to miss them. With a debut album released, it’ll be interesting to see what new material the boys bring to the table.

Set highlight:

Having the ears blown off you in the most pleasurable way imaginable. Do
expect this from every song you’re treated too, though.

What it will sound like:

 

Delorentos

When:

Sunday – Vanhalla Stage – 11:30pm

What to Expect:

Delorentos are no stranger to the Irish festival circuit and it’s certain that
you can expect big things on Saturday night. Be prepared for catchy hooks, ridiculous banter with the audience and the inevitable pogo jumping for S.E.C.R.E.T. Bring all your energy with you for this one.

Set highlight:

Generally Ronan Yourell launching himself into the audience to jump around,
but also be on the lookout for drummer Ross McCormick’s song, 'Valley Where The Rivers Run.' If it’s played, there will be tears had. Current single 'Forget The Numbers' will also be a pretty good shout.

What it will sound like:

R.S.A.G

When: Saturday – GoldenPlec Grotto – 12:00am

What to Expect:

Jeremy Hickey giving it socks behind the drum kit while the crowd are an odd mixture of entranced and grooving to the explosive percussion. The only thing you can do when the set takes flight is dance until your legs want to give way… and then dance a little bit more.

Set highlight:

The explosive closing song that will draw on for about five minutes longer
than you expect while Hickey starts laying waste to his drum kit.

What it will sound like:

 

Featuring X

When:

Sunday – GoldenPlec Grotto – 6:20pm

What to Expect:

A selection of well-thought out covers and cleverly penned original songs
from this dynamic female band, as well as a live performance that you won’t soon forget. Watch out for current single, More Than You Can Chew on Saturday evening and make sure your evening is off to a good start.

Set highlight:

The delicious rhythm section led track, 'Wild Love'
