GoldenPlec are delighted to premiere the video for High by Dublin electro synth pop trio Sleep Thieves.

High is the latest single taken from their critically acclaimed album ‘You Want The Night’ (Minty Fresh Records, 2014)

High typifies the dark allure of glimmering disco noir contained within ‘You Want The Night’, with Sorcha Brennan’s otherworldly vocals soaring against a claustrophobic, synthetic soundscape.

Sleep Thieves may be somewhat of a cult proposition in Ireland, but with over four million streams on Spotify alone, they are certainly making inroads elsewhere.

The video for High was directed by Canadian based filmmaker Claire Byrne in Toronto and features a couple of restless electro wolves killing time in the urban expanse of Toronto by day, waiting to come alive by night, before retreating into the wilderness.

"What drew me to the song High was the calm and gentle sense of euphoria about it,” says Dubliner Byrne. “I could see a story unravel in my head as I listened to it and wanted to use these strange characters to mirror the edgy sound."

It is fitting that the video for High was made in North America, as Sleep Thieves are heading to the US to play two shows at the prestigious CMJ Festival in New York later this month.

The elctro trio will play CMJ as part of a contingent of Irish acts representing Ireland under the umbrella of Music From Ireland and culture Ireland.
