Yes, they may have the worst name since Ham Sandwich, but Dry Cleaning who are in Dublin for a late show in The Workman’s Club tonight are worth your attention.

The South London outfit deliver a raw, clanging mix of post-punk and new wave, twinned with frontwoman Florence Shaw’s acerbic vocals – which are casually and poetically dismissive of almost every aspect of modern living – combine to create a tantalisingly, yet disgusting vista of modern Britain under the cloud of Brexit.

Much of Dry Cleaning’s material could be categorised as cataloguing the results of a decade of austerity under the Conservative Government, with grimy descriptions of urban decay, drug use and casual sex in Travel Lodges and the blatant racism Meghan Markel is subjected to by the tabloid press. One for fans of Shame, Idles, Fat White Family and Fontaines D.C.

The hotly tipped outfit play a late show in The Workman’s Club tonight (Doors 11PM). Tickets €13.00 available on the door.
