It’s 1974 and David Bowie has just completed his 9th studio album ‘The Gouster’ in Philadelphia with trusted producer Tony Visconti at the helm. Visconti takes the tapes away for mixing and Bowie decamps to New York where he meets John Lennon and writes No.1 hit Fame and records Across The Universe in an unplanned recording session and suddenly ‘The Goucher’ was dead and ‘Young Americans’ was born.

Forty years on the world has never heard ‘The Gouster’ as originally intended, but that’s about to change with the release of vinyl box set ‘Who Can I Be Now? (1974-76)’ on September 23rd.

But you can hear ‘The Gouster’ as originally intended before anyone else at Vinyl & Wine in The Liquor Rooms, Dublin on Thursday, September 22nd.

As always at Vinyl & Wine’s events, the album will be played from start-to-finish on vinyl on a spectacular sound system, provided just for this intimate listening party by Cloney Audio. There will also be an in-depth discussion panel and a Q&A, and fans will be able to purchase the brand new box set at discounted prices before anyone else.

Mark Whelan of Vinyl & Wine said, “We’re absolutely honoured to be exclusively premiering ‘The Gouster’ this month. David Bowie remains one of the most adored artists in history and the thought of hearing previously unreleased recordings from the mid-70s is simply thrilling.”

The listening party will take place in The Liquor Rooms at 8pm on September 22nd. Tickets are extremely limited and are available from Eventbrite now.
