Aik J just dropped a brand new video for his latest single Break it Off.  The single is of similar vein to tracks like Mood in which he explores a more mature subject matter. As described by himself: The video portrays the toxic relationship of a couple. It’s a love-hate type of thing.”

Based on the song and the video, it’s evident he’s ready to deal with more complex themes within his artistry.

“The only visual element connecting the two worlds where she is and he is, is the door,” Aik J says of the video. They are both connected on a physical and sensual level with the ropes, His body movements are mirrored by hers. The more he tries to escape, the more she is being controlled and dominated, therefore aroused.”

Aik J met the director Paul Luchian two years ago at a Sofar Sounds show in Dublin.

“He really liked my performance and said he would like to work with me,” Aik J says of the encounter. I had a few songs at the time to work on but i didn’t think of doing a whole project until we did our first video in January for the EP, it’s called ‘Last Flight’.

“We built a stronger relationship while working and seeing how genuine he was about bringing my songs to life, it made total sense to have him create the visuals with me for the EP.”

Aik J doesn’t want to give too much away in terms of the video, asking the viewer to come to their own conclusions. While there is no official date for his EP yet, expect some news on that later this year.
