It was an evening of high entertainment and quality music in Listowel as Mike the Pies summer-long Battle of the Bands came to a conclusion.

Five acts took the stage on the night, unfortunately Queenless Kings couldn’t make it due to lead singer Michael suffering a health scare during the week with all wishing him well for his recovery. Therefore it was over to Indie rock band The Neon Cars to kick things off and they set a high standard, followed by local two-piece Questionable Plays who got a rousing reception, next up was the diminutive Abby Butler who held the audience in the palm of her hand from the off, Leevy packed a whole pile of energy and spirit in to their set and finally The Flavours brought a touch of smooth class to proceedings.

Once the music was done with it was over to the judges to deliberate and whilst they agreed that there were merits to each one of the acts it was unanimous that Abby Butler had delivered the outstanding performance on the night – which you can watch back here via the Mike the Pies Facebook page.

Fergal D’Arcy, MC for the evening announced the winner to an emotional reaction from Butler and a hugely agreeable reception from the audience. Abby will now go on to record a single in Camden Recording Studios, which will be released on FIFA Records.

As it happens this week Abby features on a brand-new release All That I Know, which sees her collaborating with young up-and-coming Limerick producer Pierce O’Rahilly.
