music-sum-newThis year, the Dublin Web Summit is branching out from tech to showcase other genres such as music and film. The first announcement relating to Irish music was delivered earlier today by Web Summit founder, Paddy Cosgrave.

“The Web Summit gives Irish start-ups an unrivaled platform to reach international investors, media and entrepreneurs. We wanted to give up-and-coming Irish musicians the same platform. Not only will the attendees at the Summit experience the best of Irish talent, thousands more around the world, on the live stream and video highlights, will get their first taste of Ireland’s best music talent.”

What exactly does this mean for Irish musicians?

This year, the Web Summit has offered Irish musicians a platform to showcase their work to over 22,000 attendees as well as tens of thousands more online via live stream. All the walk-on and exit music played on stages as well as the music used for the YouTube live stream has been sourced exclusively from Irish acts.

The Web Summit has particularly focused on up and coming artists whose music will be played to welcome guests such as Eva Longoria (actress), John Scully (former CEO of Apple) and Lily Cole (model). Several of the selected musicians hail from the BIMM school of music in Dublin.

Other acts include GoldenPlec favourites: Le Galaxie, Young Wonder, Forrests, Grim, Sleep Thieves, Kormac, Underling, New Jackson, Oisin Leahy, The Yips, and Nicholas Kluzek (check out our exclusive video with Nicholas below),

The Music Summit kicks off tomorrow, 6th of November in the RDS. For more information, check it out here.
