After a brief hiatus, we’re pleased to welcome you back to this week’s The Plec Picks!

Incase you’ve never experienced The Plec Picks (listen to older playlists here) or are a little confused about what The Plec Picks are, the GP team jot down what their most listened to songs of the week are and we make a lovely playlist of all the songs for everyone to enjoy. It’s interesting to hear what everyone is listening to and it’s a chance to treat your ear holes to something a bit out of the ordinary. You may even discover your new favourite band!

As there’s a lot of different tastes in the mix here, every song might not be to everyone’s liking so feel free to skip to the next song if there’s something that doesn’t quite float your boat.

Click play once (it’s a playlist) and it’ll cycle through all the videos / songs (so you can just leave the tab open and keep listening).

If you do come across something you like, scroll on down the page a bit, be lovely and click the social media icons beside the artist and throw them a like/follow and explore what more they has to offer. Show your support.

We hope you enjoy this week’s offerings and be sure to let us know what you’re listening to and you might make it into next week’s edition! And sure, while you’re here you may aswell subscribe to us on YouTube to see when we add new video content and make new Plec Pick playlists.

What’s in there?

Lewis Watson // Into The Wild (Chosen by @Jennibombenni, a GP reader)

I think I have well & truly over-played this song on my to & fro journeys to work and inbetween. It’s a warm number accompanied with beautiful lyrics, Team GP – I think you should definitely lend your ears to this, The song has been getting mega radio play across the pond and has been picked up and fav’d by the likes of Zane Lowe and XFM folk.

New Order // Crystal (Chosen by Stuart O’Hara)

This song is just fantastic in general but the parts that really get me are the big, distorted bass riff and the delayed piano sound.

Queens of the Stone Age // My God is the Sun (Chosen by Sean Noone)

It’s Queens of the Stone Age getting back to what they do best. How could I not listen to it over and over and over for the last week?

The Hot Sprockets // Soul Brother (Chosen by Claire Kane)

This song serves as an example as to why this band should have taken off a long time ago. It’s catchy, it’s fun and it’s a little bit gritty; this single could very well be a kickstart in terms of where this exciting band are going.

Garret Moore // Breathing hard on thin air (Chosen by tom)

Follow @garretmooremusc

with all the good weather we’re having I love listening to this track. I first heard him at a gig in whelans in February and just makes me want to party in the Summer.

Corner Boy // Let’s Hit The Road (Home) (Chosen by Gavin O Leary)

Fellow Wexfordians that I recently came across. The new EP has been on repeat nonstop the last few months! Insanely underrated.

The Late Twos // The Late Twos (Chosen by Sean Smyth)

A great song from a wee EP I randomly came across on Deezer. Then I realised that GoldenPlec had reviewed it too! Looking forward to more from the Belfast based band.

Silent Noise Parade // We Used To Drink (Chosen by Ronan O Dea)

Came across this song on the radio the other day.Reminded me of M83 didn’t even realise Silent Noise Parade were an Irish band.Brilliant song and cant get that synth line out of my head.

Tebot Piws // Mae rhywyn wedi dwyn fy nhrwyn (Chosen by Aled Owen-Thomas)

Because it makes you nod your head, it’s got slide guitar in it and the lyrics are really funny (you’ll have to trust me on that one).

Kurt Vile // Wakin On A Pretty Day (Chosen by Justin McDaid)

The opening track on Vile’s new album ‘Wakin On A Pretty Daze’, all gorgeous nine minutes of it, rolls out at its own so-laid-back-it’s-vertical pace. A fine album follows suit

rocher // officer officer (Chosen by patrick)

why not

Silent Noise Parade // Electric Priestess (Chosen by Donal Clarke)

Cant stop listening to Silent Noise Parade-Electric Priestess.Their sound is amazing.Would love to hear this live at a festival!!

Ghost Estates // In Waves (Chosen by Stephen Byrne)

Ghost Estates deliver yet another catchy, uptempo slice of ethereal rock n roll dripping with atmosphere and adventure. What’s not to like?
