Mumford & Sons, Primal Scream and Fun Lovin Criminals at Arthurs Day

Mumford & Sons, Primal Scream and Fun Lovin Criminals at Arthurs Day Primal Scream in The O2 by Alan Moore 8 of 12 150x150New names added to Arthurs Day today see Mumford and Sons, Primal Scream and Huey and his crew Fun Lovin’ Criminals all joining the headline artists who will be turning up for surprise performances in local pubs all over Ireland.

As you know September 27th is Arthursd Day, no tickets are on sale, you have to just pick a pub and wait and see who shows up. It’s guerrilla music warfare and lord knows what battle you’ll end up in. Scottish alt-rock legends Primal Scream said, “Get down to your local on Arthur’s Day as you never know where we may turn up”.

They of course are joining Fatboy Slim, Texas, Amy MacDonald, Mika, Prof Green, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding and Example on the lineup of headliners who could be appearing anywhere in the country. If you like these acts you need to get behind your local and vote for your local to host these acts in the run up to Arthur’s Day. Voting will close on 16th September but in keeping with the spirit of Arthur’s Day, the winning pubs will remain a secret to the public until the night itself so you never know who might walk through the door.

Oh did we mention Royseven, Delorentos, Key West, Little Green Cars, We Cut Corners, The Hot Sprockets, Ghost Estates and more. Full list that we’re allowed tell you below.

It’s a nice idea and all but seeing as most of the headline acts will play in Dublin (which is fair enough seeing as that’s where Guinness is based) , it’s a bit disingenuous of them to say that a headline act will walk in the door of any local in the country!

They will though, if enough votes come in for a pub in the country, they will walk through that door.

    Voting is key

Well yes and no. If you look at the t and c’s on the Arthur’s Day website, there’s a breakdown of how many headline acts will play in certain regions.

It’s 4 acts for Central Dublin and within the M50.
2 for central Cork city and within 15km radius.
2 for central Belfast city and within 15km radius.
1 for central Limerick city and within 15km radius.
1 central Galway city and within 15km radius.
And 1 for rest of Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

So if someone’s living in Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny etc. realistically a headline act isn’t going to play in their local. It probably makes thinngs fairer in that 10 acts won’t play in Dublin but still a bit sneaky to spin the line that ”any act could appear at your local.”

It states on the official Arthurs page there is no tickets just turn up at a pub, however I contacted several supposedly headliner pubs and have said tickets have gone ages ago how is this fair
