1000925_499395950147543_32537631_nWe here at GoldenPlec are forever scouring the internet for new talent. Sometimes we even leave our office and look for them in real life too. There’s a host of incredibly talented up and coming artists in Ireland at the moment and we feel it’s our duty to bring them to a wider audience by introducing them to you, yes you. We can see you reading this. It’s ok, keep going.

We first became aware of  Dublin singer/songwriter Laura Olivia when we heard her cover of Hozier’s Take Me To Church earlier this year. Since then we’ve grown to become rather fond of her stunning vocals and ability to pen some beautiful and meaningful original tunes.

When we spoke to Laura to find out a little bit more about her she described her music as:

“Mostly folky I guess. I find it hard to put myself in a specific genre because I’m still very much finding my way around my most natural form of writing, so I often write songs that sound completely different.

The people I listen to most are probably the likes of Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Laura Marling and James Vincent McMorrow”

Disappointingly, it seems we’ll have to wait a while before we get to see Laura perform live.

“I’ve no gigs on the horizon unfortunately. I’ve been trying to organise myself enough to plan these things but I’m terrible at it, so if anyone wants to volunteer to be my manager and do all that stuff for me, that’d be swell…”

If you’re a fan of the likes of Sorcha Richardson, Slow Skies and Lucy Rose then we certainly feel that Laura Olivia will fit right in to your playlist. You can find out more about Laura’s releases, upcoming gigs and what she eats for breakfast (ok maybe not) over on Facebook and Twitter.
