Gig of the Week – Electric Picnic 2012Tweet
Gig of the Week this week is glaringly obvious. The last big festival of the season is set to wrap the summer up with a bang. Electric Picnic is returning to Stradbally for the ninth time with top international acts such as The Cure, Elbow, The XX, Hot Chip, Alabama Shakes, Bat for Lashes, Azelia Banks and The Roots. Not to mention a stealthy Irish contingent including Bell X1, Glen Hansard, Christy Moore, The Minutes, Delorentos, Villagers, Ham Sandwich and David Kitt; to name but a few.
If that isn’t enough to keep you entertained, they also have a comedy stage, theatre, theatre of food, farmers market and Trenchtown. Goldenplec have the stage breakdown (stage times expected Wednesday) and some Electric Picnic recommendations, so check those out. A weekend ticket will set you back €230, Family Camping Tickets are €230 per adult (2 kids U12 permitted per adult). Sunday Day Tickets are €99.50 (No camping permitted).
Canadian folk/rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn is playing The Button Factory this evening. Tickets are €25.
Goldenplec favorites, CODES, are back! Get down to The Workman’s Club on Thursday as they unveil a host of new music. Tickets are €8, a perfect pre-Picnic party. If you aren’t Stradbally bound, Time Is A Thief are playing The Academy 2 in association with Phantom 105.2 on Friday, tickets are a bargain at €5.
Everything else, as always is below.
