So here we are in March and once again Oxegen and Electric Picnic are playing lineup chicken. For those of us seasoned festival attendee’s you might remember the good old days of pre-Christmas early birds with 2-3 names being announced before the early in the year dripfeed began.
Last year with Oxegen splitting into Longitude and Oxegen and Electric Picnic in a bit of a court battle which is due in court sometime in May, things didn’t really materialise till April. That trend seems to have continued into 2014 with Oxegen and Electric Picnic both holding out with even a shred of detail on their lineups this year.
Of course the minute we have it, we’ll share the details with you all, however as with all impatient festival fans, Oxegen 2014 has gotten some of the photoshop fakery going around. Pearl Jam are warming up for Linkin Park apparently, Supergrass are reforming and playing twice (well in the second of two doing the rounds from the same place) and the fine print above the festival dates throws out some nice clarity, if a little strongly.
As much as some people are saying they would love to see this lineup, with Oxegen’s move towards dance, hip-hop and RnB last year, 90% of these acts just seem out of character for the festival. Don’t let that ruin a good rumour for you though.
