EmmaEmma O’Halloran, originally from Athlone but currently based in Dublin, is the winner of the Jerome Hynes Young Composers Competition 2012. Her prize? The commission of a new work for chamber ensemble, providing her with opportunity to work with professional musicians, as well as a handsome sum of €2500.

Emma’s new composition Cages will be performed in the National Concert Hall on March 1st at 6.45 pm, as part of the New Dublin Music Festival – a three-day festival of new music will showcase the work of major international and Irish composers at the National Concert Hall. This will be the world premiere of the work, and will be followed by a panel discussion, previewing the inaugural New Dublin Music Festival.
