Afternoon music fans, it’s your good hearted Goldenplec administrator Aidan here to throw out the details of our second run of Coast to Coast: Tea and Toast. If you followed the adventure last year, you will know that we traverse the country, from Dublin to Achill and back in one day, 15 hours of driving. We stopped only in every county we passed through, for a mug of tea, a slice of toast and a one song gig from a local band.

It proved very popular and we raised €2,600 for our chosen charity, Down Syndrome Ireland. So we can confirm that the event will return this year, and we’re hoping to get even bigger and better support for the event. This year we have Meteor, Johnston Mooney & O’Brien, Ticketfriend, Avis, Nokia Ireland, 45sound, the National Concert Hall and Whelan’s all sponsoring and supporting us.

Coast to Coast Tea and Toast by Sean Smyth-32So this year we are modifying the route a bit, to try take in a different scope of bands. We will be running from Dublin over to Galway / Salthill before heading down to Ennis through Limerick and back up toward Dublin. We are proposing to start the event Friday 29th March over to Galway and return through Limerick to Dublin on Saturday 30th March.  There will be a finale gig in Whelan’s on March 30th 2013 with a lineup to be announced shortly.

We will be taking in Dublin bands on the Friday to the National Concert Hall to record a one song video with us and we’ll also be taking in a few bands on the Saturday in Whelan’s before sound check to do some one song video’s. We will be asking all bands involved to share their video and encouraging donations to our event. All money raised will be going to Down Syndrome Ireland.

So we are shouting out to you, the bands, the friends of bands… Send us your example audio, especially of a song you think you could make work, cutback acoustic at the side of the road, or behind a skip, or under a bridge. The location will be somewhere cool or interesting in your locality as long as it’s not miles off our route. With any luck we’ll have the same kind of radio and online support we received last year and lots of new people will be checking out your music. All band submissions should be sent to admin@goldenplec.com.

If you are on BreakingTunes, you can apply for a slot through that dashboard opportunities. If you are in Galway or Dublin, we will be meeting a couple of bands in Galway for one song videos, as we will be staying in Galway Friday night, and all through Saturday we will be meeting with bands in the venue to do one song gigs.

This is a charity event, so if you are submitting for consideration please bear that in mind and we would ask that any bands involved actively promote their video and the charity donation link if possible throughout the event. If a band wanted to organise to raise money before hand to drop with us as we cross the country, we would be thrilled, as one or two bands attempted this last year.

If you are an organisation or business and feel you would like to sponsor us or our event in some way, we would be delighted to hear from you. admin@goldenplec.com is the best mail to get us on and we will respond swiftly.
