I'm sorry Nicole, I know how frustrating it is having missed out on a lot of gigs when I was underage too but you can't blame the security for doing their job. As Dionsis said, it is the law at the moment and I've always found The Academy to be very strict on IDs, asking everyone to have them in their hands as they are going in etc.

I'm sure they'll be back again when you're 18 or maybe for an all ages show :)

I dont wanna sound like im backing up the bouncers here or the likes but The Academy are subject to the laws of Ireland, which at present state that after 7pm people under the age of 18 may not be on a premises where alcohol is served unless food is being served (i.e. a function or meal)

If your under 18 and no with parental minder of types, there is always the chance the bouncers will turn you away at the door.

Unfortunately i find it to be the case that a lot of U-18's manage to slip in unnoticed because they "look" older and the bouncer doesnt ask the question.

The problem with U-18's being on the premises when alcohol is served is that they dont neccessarily have to be the one going to the bar to manage to obtain alcohol. If caught with minors having alcohol on the premises The Academy would be fined very heavily and potentially lose its license.

Where you there alone?

I am absolutly furious that i didnt get into the acadamy last night to see onerepublic my all time favourite band, the bouncers were an absolute disgrace and i will be taking further action because i dont understand that for the people who arent 18 should be alou in because they only time they should need an id is when you want to get a drink at the bar not at the door and at all the other gigs little 12 year olds go and are out of their head and have bolttles of vodka in their bags and pockets, i will be making sure the acadmy will never have any customers going there!!!!!!
